Doug Cooney

Doug Cooney has written four books for Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, The Beloved Dearly, now in its 13th printing, I Know Who Likes You — and two titles co-written with actress Marlee Matlin, Nobody’s Perfect and Leading Ladies.  Two of Cooney’s books have been translated and published internationally; The Beloved Dearly in South Korea and Nobody’s Perfect in Japan.

Nobody’s Perfect was also adapted as a youth musical, performed bilingually in spoken English and American Sign Language, by the Kennedy Center and Very Special Arts.  Cooney is currently at work on Battledrum, a novel about Civil War drummer boys.  He is also known as a playwright and as a screenwriter.
