Jacqueline Berger

Jacqueline Berger, “The First Ladies Lady,” is a national guest speaker, historian, and author on America’s First Ladies. Her interest and attraction with the First Ladies began in 1961 when a poised and sophisticated First Lady, with the same first name, was living in the White House. Not long into his tenure, the world was stunned when President Kennedy was assassinated.  Simultaneously   Jacqueline’s father had suffered a massive heart attack. Frightened, vulnerable, and worried that she would soon lose her Dad, she began looking for guidance and strength for what she perceived was an  insurmountable challenge in her life.  She found a role model in the First Lady, the one woman who appeared to be single-handedly holding the entire country together after a horrific event and devastating loss.

Thus began Jacqueline’s exhaustive research and study on the women who called the White House home.  She scoured every used bookstore and started her now expansive private collection of books on       America’s First Ladies.  Although family finances did not offer Jacqueline the opportunity to continue her higher education, she was determined to succeed.

After high school, Jacqueline began a 25-year career in the world of finance where she competed with male colleagues who had received advanced formal degrees. With diligence and determination, she     became the first female vice president for the national corporation she worked for, thereby breaking the glass ceiling for others to follow.

Fueled by her life-long fascination with the First Ladies, at age 50, Jacqueline made the decision to set her fears aside and follow her passion. Today, “The First Ladies Lady,” is a highly sought after guest speaker, known for her extensive First Lady Anecdotes, animated enthusiasm, and ability to “bring     history to life” with her unique story telling ability. Her tailor made power point programs are highly  acclaimed as entertaining, informative, and particularly inspiring and empowering.

Jacqueline has had the privilege of speaking at five presidential libraries.  She has been invited to address standing room-only audiences for numerous national organizations, was honored and had the great  pleasure to speak at the Annual Conference for the Ninth District Court of Appeals, the keynote speaker for the California Federation of Republican Women’s 37th Biennial Convention, and the Smithsonian Institution’s First Ladies Traveling Exhibit.  (Her large client list and testimonials can be found on her website at www.FirstLadiesLady.com)

Encouraged by her audience’s many requests for interesting and engaging “historical biographies,” she applied her fervor and distinctive style of writing to her trilogy Loves, Lies, and Tears, The Lives of America’s First Ladies.

A native Californian Ms. Berger resides in Thousand Oaks with her husband and family.
