Jean Hastings Ardell

Jean Hastings Ardell has worked as a freelance writer since 1988. Her articles have appeared in numerous newspapers, magazines, and literary journals.

Breaking into Baseball: Women and the National Pastime, was published in 2005 and continues to be used as a text in sports history courses around the country. She is the co-chair of the NINE Spring Training Conference, held each March in Arizona for baseball scholars.

Ardell graduated with honors in English from the University of California at Irvine and holds a Master of Professional Writing from the University of Southern California. She lives in Orange County, California, where she works as a writer, editor, and teacher of the memoir form.
