Johnny E. Jensen
Johnny E. Jensen, ASC is a director of photography who has worked in the motion picture industry for over forty years. He began working as a cinematographer in 1984. In 1991, he did the cinematography for Rambling Rose which received Oscar nominations for Laura Dern and her mother Diane Ladd besides an Independent Spirit Award nomination for best cinematography. Grumpy Old Men, Lost in Yonkers, Rosewood” and The Game of Their Lives are amongst other examples of his work. Also nominated for Emmy and ASC awards for An American Story and Into The Badlands.
He has also worked as a director of films for television. The Ditchdigger’s Daughters was nominated for Best Film, Best Original Score and won a Cable Ace Award for Kimberly Elise as Best Supporting Actress. This film was directed by Johnny.
Johnny has recently become a professor and teaches cinematography at Dodge College, Chapman University and he still works in both features and television. He is a proud member of The International Cinematographer’s Guild, The Directors Guild of America, The American Society of Cinematographers, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences as well as The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
He resides in Southern California and still surfs and rides fast motorcycles.
