Gordon McAlpine
A native of Southern California, Gordon McAlpine is the author of numerous acclaimed novels, including Joy in Mudville, The Persistence of Memory, and Mystery Box. His first book of non-fiction, The Way of Baseball: Finding Stillness at 95 MPH, written in collaboration with all-star Shawn Green, was published by Simon and Schuster in the spring of 2011.
In January of 2013 he published The Tell-Tale Start, the first volume in a trilogy for middle-readers, “The Misadventures of Edgar and Allan Poe”. Subsequent volumes will be published by Viking in 2014 and 2015. And in February of this year he published a literary mystery novel, Hammett Unwritten, which is receiving uniformly excellent reviews.
Additionally, he has published short stories and book reviews in journals and anthologies both in the U.S.A. and abroad. He has chaired and taught creative writing in the Master of Fine Arts Program at Chapman University in Orange, California, as well as fiction writing classes at U.C.L.A. and U.C. Irvine.
