Mary Platt

Mary Platt is director of communications and media relations at Chapman University. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Michigan State University, she holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in art history and arts public relations. As a longtime (since age 10!) Sherlockian and mystery fan, she currently co-administrates the Los Angeles Sherlock Holmes Breakfast Club and is volunteer PR manager for the new L.A. play-reading series “Sherlock Holmes in Brentwood.”
Her essay on the hero’s journey in the Guy Ritchie/Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes movies will be published in the anthology “The One Fixed Point in a Changing Age,” forthcoming from Wessex Press, and she is researching a book on the Ritchie Holmes movies. She wrote and edited Chapman University’s 150th Anniversary books “The Chapman University Collections” and “Chapman University: Celebrating the Past, Shaping the Future,” and has published numerous articles on the arts and higher education.
